Debenhams WareHouse and Peplums…A Love Triangle

It is no secret that the sales are on in a big way on the High Street. As I cast my eye searching for inspiration, the sight of racks of summer toot filled me with a deepening sense of disappointment. We have hardly had a chance to wear any of it before retailers have thrown in the towel and are looking towards the Autumn trends. And who can blame them?

On an up note Debenhams have had a cracking sale with splendid reductions so it’s always worth keeping an eye for that wanted item just in case it gets slashed…price-wise that is I decided that the mission of the moment was to look at peplum tops and report back from the front, so to speak.

These tops are not in the sale but do watch carefully as the summer unfolds. I am going to bravely nail my colours to the mast and say this. A peplum top may have a touch of this season about it so don’t go mad and buy too many. I have one, lets leave it there…. A dress is a different matter so I will add that caveat. Make sure the top you but fits you in all the right places because this little beauty is all about showcasing the waist. It can shorten your torso (watch out our busty sisters) and make you look extremely long legged which is in itself no bad thing, so it depends on your proportions. The other element to watch for is, when worn with shorts or jeans, the top can draw attention to the bottom of the rise and not in a good way, once again try before you buy and check these trickier elements out. I love the option of wearing it in a fun and funky way or pair with a pencil skirt and you’ve got a whole lot of woman going on…. The choice is yours!
