Esprit…Staple Genius

The wardrobe staple is not, contrary to common belief, some kind of stationery equipment. It is a range of items that can be worn and worn again in different ways in different seasons and that don’t date. Personal styling works back from this simple premise, wear shapes and styles that compliment you and you will never put a foot out of place. Here are my top tips on just some essential items.

• A fitted jacket.
• A mac
• A shift dress
• A skirt
• A white shirt
• A good pair of jeans/trousers
• A good range of long sleeved tops and T shirts.
• A range of modern jewellery, scarves,bags.
•  Contemporary footwear that is in good repair and appropriate for all weather.

Esprit popped up on my high street here in Brighton a few years ago. Apparently the company began life with the U.S founders flogging their wares from the back of a VW in the late 60′s. Couldn’t do that now…. or could you? Now they are everywhere! Anyway, the years have rolled by and I just loved this look. It shows us how to create that elusive simple chic, commonly strived for. This outfit can be dressed up or down by a change of shoes and bag and the addition of statement jewellery and jacket. For those who prefer an even more relaxed feel there are several alternatives. A long sleeve T shirt, scarf and maxi cardigan would work really well. NB Always consider the back and side view as well as the the front before charging to the tills.
